Car Accident Injuries in South Surrey

by Dr. Kam Mann | |

Car accident injuries can occur even during minor collisions. Symptoms are not always immediately noticeable. After a motor vehicle accident, you may begin to experience neck pain, whiplash, headaches, stiffness, or discomfort in your back and shoulders. While your vehicle may show visible damage, car accident injuries can strain the muscles, joints, and soft tissues of the body.

Even small accidents or low-speed impacts can lead to injuries. These symptoms may develop gradually over time. If injuries are not properly assessed and treated, they can lead to long-term issues. These may include chronic pain, reduced mobility, nerve irritation, or ongoing muscle tension.

Easier Now to Get Treatment Support

Did you know it is easier now to get the treatment support you need covered by ICBC?

ICBC’s new Enhanced Care plan beginning on May 1, 2021 means you do not have to wait for a support and recovery specialist to contact you before getting treatment under Enhanced Accident Benefits.

For the first 12 weeks after your crash, you can go for treatment with a healthcare practitioner(s) without the need for a doctor’s referral. Just make sure you have your ICBC claim number when you go to get treatment.

SALAS Collective Care is here to support you and work directly with ICBC to create a treatment plan to help you feel better.

“I was involved in a bad car accident over 5 years ago and have been to a few chiropractors and I have to say that Dr. Mann is one of the best. I appreciate how he listened to all my concerns and takes the time to explain why he chooses certain treatment methods to help me. Dr. Kam Mann is very approachable, kind mannered and takes the time to make sure all concerns are addressed. I would recommend Dr. Mann to anyone who is looking for a new chiropractor as he truly is one in a million!” H.S.

Steps to receiving care after a car accident

1. Report the Motor Vehicle Incident to ICBC

Before you can get access to care, you’ll need to report the accident to ICBC. You have 30 days to do so. Once you do, you will be provided with a claim number and be assigned an adjuster or claims specialist. This is true regardless of who is at fault in the accident and whether you were in a motor vehicle as a driver, passenger or have been affected as a pedestrian or bicyclist.

2. Understand the Treatments You Have Access To

Once you receive a claim number, you have access to a number of treatment options without the need for a doctor’s note. These treatments are available within 12 weeks, or about 3 months, after the accident date.

“I have been seeing Dr. Sohi since 2016 and the difference she has made in my health and life overall is next level. She has been able to assist me through my injuries, ailments, major and minor pains. If you need a Chiropractor or are thinking about going to see one, you need to book with Dr. Sohi. She is great at answering any questions and I just can’t say enough about how happy am with the treatment and care I receive. “ S.K.

Which Practitioner should I see first?

It is best to see a chiropractor first. If you’re not sure who to see or what expertise is best suited for your injuries, consider seeing a Chiropractor as a first point-of-call. As doctors, chiropractors can assess the situation and help create a treatment plan that includes other practitioners based on what they find in their assessments.
